  • Overview


    Perform inbound and outbound gate verification activities for truck and automobile traffic into the facility’s premises.  Operate the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Transportation Management System (TMS), and Easy Lobby Visitor Management System (Easy Lobby) accordingly to support the gate verification activities.  Direct all inbound carriers/drivers and visitors to the proper location at the facility.  Performs all duties safely, accurately and meets set productivity goals and expectations. 


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

    • Communicate and work effectively with immediate supervisor to identify and resolve any and all issues arising from yard management activities.
    • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with coworkers.
    • Inspect inbound and outbound trailers for damage, seal integrity and reefer unit status. Follow SOP for immediate reporting of any damages, seal discrepancies, or low reefer fuel situations.
    • Maintain accurate records of inbound and outbound trailer/driver activities.
    • Oversee dedicated carrier and one-way dispatch process to ensure timely departures.
    • Monitor drop trailer program to ensure all standards and compliance criteria are being met.
    • Properly record, monitor, and direct placement of drop, one-way, and dedicated trailers in and out of the facility.
    • Maintain accurate yard data utilizing WMS.
    • Work effectively with immediate supervisor to improve processes and accuracy, and to resolve any issues pertaining to the yard management process.
    • Perform other yard management duties as assigned.
    • Responsible for the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work area, accuracy of yard locations, and maintaining safe conditions in travel lanes.
    • Maintain accurate files and filing systems to include transportation documentation and other miscellaneous documents.
    • Write, accurately type or enter information into the computer to prepare reports and copy information from one record to another. Proofread records and forms to verify accuracy.
    • Effectively research, track, and resolve (or properly refer) documentation problems and discrepancies.
    • Report any unfixable/unsafe issue to supervisor.
    • Observe and enforce all safety rules in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries.
    • Perform tasks and operate appropriate equipment in a safe and orderly manner in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries.
    • Ensure that guard house equipment is maintained (daily inspection) and clean; report repair or service needs to supervisor in an effort to reduce equipment damage.
    • Ensure guard house computers, office equipment, and RF (radio frequency) equipment are used in a safe and professional manner.
    • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Associate Handbook, etc.).
    • Comply with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations and policies (i.e. OSHA, HACCP, AIB, etc.)
    • Accept additional responsibilities or special projects as requested. Other duties may be assigned.

    High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred, or one year warehouse related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Basic math and computer skills are required.  Experience with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Outlook, and Excel) required.



    Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to read and write simple correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.  Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, visitors and outside contractors. 



    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.



    Must possess excellent organizational and problem solving skills.  Must be able to effectively interact with different personalities and levels of people.  Must be able to work in a proactive manner, address issues, and solve problems by using previous education and experience in identifying appropriate actions. 


    Must be detail oriented; possess emotional stability and objectivity, and the ability to see problems through to completion.  Must have good communication skills and be self-motivated.  Must also have the ability to prioritize work to ensure timely task completion. 


    Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and the ability to deal with standardized situations with frequent variables.

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving motor vehicles or other mechanical equipment.  The associate is frequently exposed to all types of outside weather conditions and vehicle emissions.  The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. 



    This is a full-time position.  The incumbent must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays.  Work hours may vary or change based on customer order requirements.



    The position does not require travel.
